Julia Fiona Roberts, born on October 28, 1967, at Atlanta in the United States to Betty Lou Bredemus & Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is part of the Robertses' fourth generation who reside in the Atlanta area, starting with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. She inherited her father's interest in theater from a young age. When he was studying at Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force, and was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and in 1956 their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957 they quit the Air Force and Walter started his education at Tulane. Walter worked with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family moved to Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a local Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. They founded an Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it ran for about six years. They welcomed in 1965 two children to the family: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
